Five Secret Locations For A Destination Wedding

Flinders Street
I'm sure many of us have secret fantasies about having a destination wedding. It was a great surprise for me to find out 16% of American marriages are actually destination marriages. In fact,it was even more surprising to discover that destination weddings may work out to be 50% cheaper than one held at home. Definitely an incentive to get out there, if you ever needed one!

The question is, where would you want to go?

Okay, the 5 locations are not 'secret' in a sense that no one know has ever heard of them. Naturally, every year people flock by the hundreds to Hawaii, Vanuatu, and other 'beach' locations exchange their vows, but if you're looking for something 'different', here are 5 places that you may not have thought of:

Copenhagen, Denmark
Move over Paris, Copenhagen - home of the famous Little Mermaid is fast moving up the list as Europe's hot spots. With old castles and 'kissing places' scattered throughout the Scandinavian city, Copenhagen is a must-see place for those wanting a little European adventure. Denmark is also a perfect location if you're looking for a winter wedding/honeymoon.

Melbourne, Australia
The lesser-known little sister to Sydney, Melbourne is a vibrant little city. From the funky street art to the cafes that litter all the alleyways, from botanical gardens to art museums, it's no wonder Melbourne has been listed as the world's most livable city in 3 separate years.

Foz do Iguacu, Brazil
Head to Foz do Iguacu, the border of Brazil and Argentina if you want to get close to nature. With amazing rainforests, a waterfall that gushes 3 times harder than Niagra falls, this is definitely a must-see place. Put it on your bucket list!

Nha Trang, Vietnam
Vietnam has been developing at a steady pace, but one city that remains as calm and peaceful is Nha Trang. Somewhere between old school village with chickens running around and 'up and coming' beach town, Nha Trang is perfect for couples who want a break from city life.

Edinburgh, Scotland
If you've ever wanted a dramatic "princess with her knight in shining armour" kind of wedding, getting married in a castle is the way to go, as many celebrities have done, including Madonna and Pierce Brosnan. There are many castles scattered throughout Scotland; some lying in ruins (great from pictures!), some are still private homes (SO cool!) and many others transformed into majestic hotels fit for royalty. If you want a wedding dress with a humongous train, this is the perfect backdrop!

So...where would you go for a destination wedding?
