From the Manolo-clad Carrie Bradshaw to The Wizard of Oz’s ruby-slippered leading lady, we have learned that shoes are always the most important accessories.  Donning a kicky pair of brightly colored heels has become one of the most popular ways to spice up a wedding ensemble.  As the summer months are now upon us, we are sure to see more and more brides strutting their stuff in bold, sassy shoes as they make their way down the aisle.

When it comes to making a statement, accessories are often the best way to do it without going overboard.  The perfect shoe adds just enough flair and can truly complete your wedding day look.  There are plenty options for the bride who hopes to add a splash of color to her wedding shoes.  Popular choices include blush pink for a soft, romantic feel, deep red for a sexier style, and all sorts of blue tints, which run the gamut from elegant and understated to punchy and eye-catching.  As summer kicks into high gear, bold citrus tones such as lemon and tangerine are likely to take the wedding world by storm and see a huge increase in popularity.  If you’re looking to go more outside the box and stray from the norm, some great choices include teal, fuchsia, and assorted metallics.

Not sure what color shoe you’d like to don on your special day?  Try coordinating with your bouquet or décor.  If you’re going with roses and romance, red might just be the perfect choice for you.  A backyard bash filled with sunshine and wildflowers may be best suited by a cheery dandelion shade or a breezy lavender.  Catering to the overall mood or theme of your celebration is another way to choose the right hue.  A vintage, 1940’s inspiration can be accentuated by a bright polka-dotted style.  If you’re going with a ballerina-esque bridal style, try an understated blush shoe with ribbons or ties to emulate the look of a ballet slipper.  No matter what your mood, personality, or overall style, you can surely find the perfect shade for the most important pair of shoes you’ll ever slip on!

Celebrities have welcomed this growing trend with open arms.  Most recently, Niecy Nash donned a pair of stunning heels as her “something blue” on the day of her wedding to electrical engineer Jay Tucker.  Designed by Glam Luxe, Nash’s killer peep-toe slingbacks were custom-made and adorned with stunning cerulean Swarovski crystals.  Glam Luxe also created a glitzy peep-toe stiletto for Nash’s reception, this one coated in radiant silver crystals.

Below, I have chosen a few of my favorite colored shoe looks for your big day.  Brian Atwood’s lime pump adds a fresh kick of citrus, perfect for a hot summer’s day.  A flirty bow and ankle strap gives a feminine feel to Nina Shoes’s magenta peep-toe.   Badgley Mischka mixes a forest green with the sparkle of rhinestones to create a sophisticated look for your special day.  For elegant grace, Manolo Blahnik’s coral D’Orsay pump will make you want to waltz the night away.  If you’re feeling saucy, I recommend Pour La Victoire’s pointy-toed, gem-encrusted stiletto.  Finally, Martinez Valero’s brooch-topped electric blue stunner makes for a regal shoe selection.
