Last Dance After The Last Dance At Your Wedding Reception?

As wedding DJ's, we are always on the lookout for new trends and ideas to share with our brides and grooms that may help to make their wedding reception unique and personal to them.  One of the latest ideas that we just heard about (and that I absolutely LOVE) is the last dance after the last dance.  But what exactly does this mean?

Traditionally at weddings, there is a last dance.  This could be a slow dance to a song that has a lot of meaning to you while all your guests circle around you.  It could be a fast dance that the bride, groom and all guests dance to right before the night ends.  Or it could be a sing along song such as "Friends in Low Places."  Either way, when you have your last dance of the evening, your guests are there, showing their love and support for your new marriage.

While this is wonderful, weddings go by in the blink of an eye and you will most likely have very limited time on this day when it's just you and your new husband or wife.

So the last dance after the last dance is a chance to have a moment alone with this special person.  After the last dance song is played, whether it be slow or fast, your wedding DJ will ask all guests to please make their way outside of the reception room and line up on both sides of the door.  (Depending on your venue, you may want to have the banquet coordinator help to line up guests with sparklers or flower petals to toss when the two of you make your way out of the reception).  Your wedding DJ will then play your final last dance song for just the two of you (you may even ask him or her to step out of the room at this time so you can truly be alone during this special moment).

This last dance after the last dance gives the two of you a few minutes, completely alone, to dance to a special song and soak up the moment and the memorable evening that you just shared as husband and wife.

Upon exiting the reception hall, you will walk through an aisle of your guests holding sparklers, tossing flower petals or just cheering with excitement for your new life together.  This makes for a fabulous photo as well!

I hope this idea gives you something to think about when planning your wedding!
