If you're anything like me, you're obsessed with all things wedding. Even the details in the flowers but by far one of my favourite parts about the whole affair is the venue. As soon as I get the invitation, I'm looking up where the reception is and checking out the whole place. During my stint as a photographer's assistant, I got to see a couple of really cool places...

1) Aynhoe Park

This is such a quirky little place. Also, ridiculously cool because numerous celebrities have stayed there. If taxidermy (think: giraffes suspended from the ceiling and stuffed polar bears) gives you the creeps, I'd steer clear. But it's a fab venue for, well, whatever you fancy. The grounds are stunning and one quick search brings up photographer's blogs with the venue as their backdrop. Situated in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

2) Nailcote Hall

The event that I attended here wasn't actually a wedding - it was a charity ball. Eccentric owner Rick throws some spectacular parties. You must try out their Oak Room restaurant. The ceremonies take place Rick's Garden Cafe and Bar. It has a beautiful staircase that the bridal party can descend from and a light airy feel - reminds of an ornate European restaurant. Their website also says that they do civil ceremonies. Situated in Warwickshire, but close to Birmingham and Coventry.

3) Brockencote Hall

I was actually maid-of-honour at this wedding and it was amazing. First of all, let me mention the food (amazing). They have spent quite a lot of money over the last couple of years, refurbishing the venue and it paid off. The cuisine has earned itself 4 AA stars and the views are breathtaking. After you've made your way up the long, winding drive, the best place for some photos is in front of the building itself. Situated near the Malvern Hills, Worcestershire.

4) Pimhill Barn at Lea Hall

This was my favourite place to assist at. If you love a proper English countryside wedding, a barn venue is the perfect choice for you. Maybe I just loved it because there was lots of dancing. There was lots of shrubbery and fairy lighting dotted around the place and bunting. It was very quaint. The barn is spacious inside and the wood gives it a lovely warmth. It's also a working farm, which adds some character to the whole place. There is no onsite accomodation but they suggest a list of place, on their website and you can leave cars there. Situated in Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

5) Hartwell House and Spa

Anywhere with 'spa' in the title will immediately have my attention. The pool is exquisite and the whole venue is very grandiose. Who doesn't love pottering around a mansion, eh? They even allow dogs - which some of the guests were delighted about but wish they had known in advance.

Obviously there are SO many wedding venues to choose from but this is a mix of us some that I have particularly enjoyed. Which wedding venues have blown you away? Drop me a comment, let me know.
