Wedding postage is an important part of your overall wedding budget so be sure to keep it in mind during your planning.  Several mailing pieces related to your wedding will require postage IF you choose to send them to your guests.  Here is a list of those possible items…
  • Engagement Announcements for sharing the news of your engagement to family & friends.
  • Save the Dates for spreading the news of your upcoming wedding date so guests will have advance notice before receiving your wedding invitation.
  • Response Cards for gathering an accurate count of how many invited guests will be attending your wedding.  Postage amount will vary depending on the design.  Response cards come with a return mailing envelope requiring a 1st class stamp.  Response postcards, as included with seal and send wedding invitations, eliminate the envelope and require less postage with only a postcard stamp.
  • Wedding Invitations for formally inviting guests to your wedding.  Cost of postage will depend on the weight of your final mailing piece which will be affected by any insert pieces such as reception and response cards.  That’s why it’s so important to take one of your ready-to-mail invitations to a Post Office to have it weighed for determining the proper amount of postage.
  • Rehearsal Invitations for mailing to only those guests who are invited to attend this pre-wedding event.
  • Thank You Cards for sending out post-wedding to graciously thank all your guests for attending your wedding and for any gifts they presented to you.

Purchasing your wedding postage through the U.S. Postal Service is one option.  Purchasing custom wedding stamps is another option.  Even though personalized stamps cost more than regular postage, you can save some money by mailing multiple items using the same custom stamps.  Buying more sheets of custom wedding postage results in your paying a better per-sheet price.  Again, be sure to know what amounts of postage you will need to purchase, especially when it comes to your actual wedding invitations.

I hope you find this information helpful in planning your wedding postage budget and keep in mind not all the items on this list may pertain to your needs.
