Do you RSVP when invited to birthday parties, weddings and events?

San Antonio Wedding Consultants, Principles in Action have always been meticulous when it comes to following customs and rituals. Today, our wedding expert, Ansonya Burke, explores one such wedding etiquette whose importance has seem to diminish over the years.

Talking of wedding invitations had me thinking: While it's considered extremely polite of the host to send formal invites to his/her guests, the respective guests don't consider it of importance to RSVP to the invitation. There are several reasons why this is considered impolite.

~Ditch the Dilemma~

For one, when you ignore to acknowledge the invite, it puts the host is a major dilemma: to expect your company or not? They might have to make necessary arrangements (seating and other related reception arrangements) that will depend on the number of guests attending.

It's just RSVP!

RSVP - a French phrase stands for 'répondez, s'il vous plaît' whose translation reads: Please Reply. Hence, when a person is polite enough to invite you,  and then ask you to respond their query, it's only considered good manners to do so.  It's very inconsiderate on your part to NOT RSVP when your host is expecting you to.
Not knowing the exact numbers of guests attending the event/wedding may make the couple over spend on their budget; which guests should be considerate enough to know about. More importantly if you're bringing along a Plus One without notifying your hosts add to the ill manners.

~Etiquette First~

It is important to update your guests when an emergency arises and you find yourself not being able to attend the event. At the end of the day, what is going to reflect back are your good manners and etiquette- and it's the least your host deserves.
