Taking The Plunge: 2014 Wedding Dress Trend

Plunging Neckline Wedding Dress Trend 2014Sure, Fall 2013 collection wedding dresses are just hitting the retailers, but of course this is the fashion industry - so we're already pouring through 2014 designs for the up-and-coming trends. The benefit to this is that, since many brides purchasing their gowns in 2013 will not actually be wearing them til sometime in '14, there's an opportunity to be totally on trend way ahead of the curve. Which, since we're girls, we sort of like.

For 2014 we're seeing a lot of what's been hot the last couple of seasons - sleeves, color, fabulous backs - but we're also seeing something relatively new: the plunging neckline. Which might be scary for some brides (a plunging neckline for the red carpet, perhaps, but a wedding dress?) the trick is to define "plunging" to suit your own comfort level, starting with a v-neck and descending from there.

The plunging neckline works to it's maximum potential on smaller busted girls (great news for A cups everywhere who just don't quite fill out that strapless sweetheart) but that doesn't mean that fuller busts can't rock the look too - just think slightly less plunge, and pick a dress with good bones (meaning structure) to ensure everything, ahem, stays where it's supposed to be. Another option is to select a plunging v-neck wedding dress with an illusion neckline (like the David Tutera in the slideshow below), to get the trend while maintaining a little bit of coverage.

While we're still waiting for Spring 2014 dresses to actually be available for purchase, there are plenty of fabulous v-neck and plunging neckline wedding dresses to choose from right now -check out our favorites in a slideshow here, and tell us which one you love in the comments!
