We're in the know and you will be too when you read about the top trends of 2013 weddings. The big words for 2013 are Elegance, Sophisticated, Luxe, and Personalized..

  1. Bold Invitations- Move over White, Purple is on the way! Brides are getting more and more unique in what they want from theirinvitations. This is the first thing that guests will see that speaks about you as a couple, make it speak about you and your love story. Whether it be a favorite color or a whimsical theme like Alice in Wonderland tell everyone who you are from the first look. Big bold colors are sweeping the old traditional looks under the rug. Deep shades of Purple, Chocolate Browns and Golden hues are what's in. For fall browns, bronzes and dark shades make for a beautiful statement about your chosen time of year. 3-D invitations are on the rise as well. Add a personal touch and wrap your invitations in a personalized handkerchief that they can use to dry their tears as you say your I Do's.
  2. Eye Popping Cakes- The major look takes on an eye-popping all over color appliques. This again is another way to tell your guest what your story is. Show them your artistic style. Many brides have taken to the other approach by going with a simple cake with one big pop of color in a

  3. Wardrobe Changes- We want more, we want more! Why have one when you can have two? Brides are tired of being defined by the one dress. They are letting people see the real them by choosing not one but two wedding gowns. We've seen a more formal ball gown at the wedding and then she trips the light fantastic in a sassy party dress. Some brides decide to say Yes to the Dress not once but twice and get two equally elaborate gowns.
  4. Shocking-Blue Shoes- For brides whose “something blue” refers to what they’ll wear on their feet. The hue of choice will not be a subtle powder blue or periwinkle but, rather, footwear in a more unexpected shade of teal, turquoise, or indigo. And look for all that glitters. Also themed footwear will be finding it's way into several wedding ensembles.
This shoe would keep the Alice in Wonderland theme without going over the top.
  5. Embellished Bouquets
The release of "The Great Gatsby" has got brides clamoring for lavish touches to their wedding. Crystals, buttons and brooches are a perfect choice to add to your arrangement or do a bouquet completely out of the glitz and leave the flowers out.  The other trend is forgoing the delicately arranged flower bouquets instead they are asking for wildflowers and fragrant herbs. The peony is the flower of the year.
  6. Memorable Music

We won't have to sit through hours of Motown, '80s tunes(which I still Love)  and hits off the pop charts at weddings? That won't be the case in 2013 says Rob Principe of Scratch Weddings, one of the country's top DJ services. "They want electronic dance music, then Bruno Mars, Mumford & Sons, sexy Brazilian house or bossa nova," Rob says. And don't be surprised if you see live musicians that play along with the DJ. "At the cocktail hour, you can have a percussionist and the DJ together -- like having live music embroider the DJ's 1,000-song playlist," Rob explains.

  7. Cultural Cuisine- Couples are incorporating their heritage, family traditions and cultures into their weddings and we are now seeing that carry over to the food they serve their guest. For couples that come from different backgrounds works with you to create a fusion of your two or more cultures into the return to plated dinner service over buffet.

  8. It's a Formal Affair- "We are seeing a move to sophistication and elegance," says April Johns of Fancy Events in Louisville, KY.It's a move towards sophistication," Chandeliers, gold chargers, opulent decor is on the rise. Even bride who are looking for an outdoor rustic wedding is still looking for sophisticated touches. We did a wedding where the bride hung lavish chandeliers from the trees to light the path from the wedding are to the reception sight.
  9. Glamping- Matthew McConaughey started this new trend with his spectacular star studded weddingand now brides are loving the idea of a grown-up summer camp. Imagine ultra-luxe safari-style tents with heat, electricity and high-end linens. If the idea of overnight guests doesn't work for you, some brides are using the tents as part of the reception. You can have a party tent for adults and a separate one for the kids with activities to keep the youngsters entertained.
  10. The Reception Lounge- This was on the rise in 2012 and we have seen it carry on through 2013. This is an area away from the dance floor where guests can go to relax and mingle in a more intimate setting. This would be a great place to have a D.I.Y. drink station whether it be the grooms favorite micro brew or a flavored lemonade bar guests will love the thought you put into them having a wonderful night with you.
