While working with a client who desired a unique and custom cake design for less than $400 budget for 125 guests (approx. less than $3.20 per slice), I received the following tip on ordering cakes from my preferred baker Leigh of Palate of Paradise (www.palateofparadise.com) in Chino Hills, CA.

Square cakes provide more slices than round cakes. Yet, if you order a square cake stacked in the center, it can become quite costly. Therefore, the savings and uniqueness are found when the cake is stacked on the corner. Here is an example of this design

.
This unique design saved my client $50 on her cake, bringing her per slice cost to approx. $2.80 Yes, we came under budget and I love delivering great style while saving my clients money.

We further customized the cake, by adding the scrolling design from the invitations on alternate layers, topping the cake with the bride and grooms monogram and accenting the monogram a tasteful amount of flowers. We saved on the cake topper by ordering it well in advance from AdvantageBridal.com.

I will post photos of the cake as soon as I have the photos.
