Favors are a way of showing appreciation to family and friends who have taken the time to share your special day. While grandparents might be delighted to go home with a set of coasters framing your newly married face, everyone else might not be so keen on the idea. Instead of spending time and money on something that is going to be left behind at the reception or thrown out later, treat guests with something unique that ties in with the theme of your wedding or represents you as a couple. These are some of my favorite ideas…

Sweet Treat: Fill and label glass containers with family members’ favorite candies. Pair with a personalized bag or take out box and have everyone dig in.

Local Flavor: Send your guests home with something your area is famous for, whether it be fresh fruit, honey, or jam. If you choose a colorful fruit it can add to your tabletop décor.

Green Gifts:
Share your love of nature and life with seed packets, potted herbs, or lucky bamboo.

Summer Souvenir: For warm weather weddings, help your guests stay cool with folding fans. Tie them with ribbon in your wedding colors for a little flair.

Travel Trend:
Fashionable luggage tags are a non-traditional and useful item for your jet-setting friends if you are having a destination wedding. They can even double as napkin rings!

Philanthropic Favor: Share the gift of giving and make a donation in honor of your guests. Craft a little note about the organization and its importance in your life.

Love Story: Incorporate a part of your love story with your token of appreciation —if you met over a cup of coffee, package the same kind of coffee beans and attach your story.
