A unique wedding guestbook is a way to remember your guests’ presence and for them to leave an indelible mark on your wedding day.

There are many moments you’ll want to capture from your wedding day—your first kiss, your first dance, among countless others—but more than anything, you’ll want to remember who was there to help you celebrate.  Traditionally, wedding guestbooks have helped recount every person who was in attendance at your wedding celebration by having each sign their name and possibly a congratulatory message in the margins.  Although this preserves their signatures, brides today are searching for more meaningful and creative ways to keep the memory of their wedding guests alive, along with the traditional guest book, as a reminder of what their presence brought to the wedding day.

Here’s a list of the most unique wedding guest book ideas we’ve seen recently. We’re crazy about personalization around here and what we love most about these is many of them bring an element of personality from both you and your guests, leaving everyone feel as though they have had a hand in making your wedding day and your marriage special.  That being said, I would encourage you to also have a traditional guestbook at both your ceremony and reception as a way to make sure everyone has the opportunity to mark their attendance.  Wedding Shoppe Inc. offers a variety of beautiful wedding guest books both in-store and online.  See below for some options but until then, check out some of these ideas to accompany the traditional ‘autograph’ book!! :)

Wedding Guestbook Tree

Have your guests ‘leaf’ a thumb print on a branch of your wedding tree along with their signature.

Wine Bottle Wedding Guestbook

I love this idea! This creative couple paired their wine-country themed wedding with their wedding guestbook and it’s nothing short of brilliant.  They re-labeled wine bottles with the years 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 and elegantly displayed them in an antique French riddling rack.  To sign the ‘guestbook,’ guests left notes for the couple and placed them in the bottle(s) of their choice.  The couple will open the wine bottle on the corresponding anniversary year to enjoy the love and well-wishes from their friends and family for years to come.

Typewriter Wedding Guestbook

Vintage weddings are a huge trend right now and couples are infusing vintage finds in different ways throughout their weddings.  In lieu of a traditional wedding guestbook, some couples are opting for a vintage typewriter where guests can leave ‘love notes’ for the couple.  Everything old is somehow new today…I love it!

Artifact Wedding Guestbook

Some couples build their wedding style around something that is significant to their love story, such as a song, a city/country or an activity.  You can use this same idea for your wedding guestbook by having your friends and family sign something that is special to your story, such as the pair of skis this couple used because they met at a ski lodge.  Your ‘guestbook’ could be put on display in your home as a daily reminder of the love you felt on your wedding day.

Wedding Guestbook AdLibs

We all remember playing the game of AdLibs when we were kids.  By filling in the blank spaces with words and phrases, you create your own story and it also serves as a great way for your guests to recount how well they know you as a couple or to give you some newlywed advice!  You’ll get to know your guests a little better and they can really personalize their message to you!

Hang-Tag Wedding Guestbook

There are so many variations on this wedding guestbook but a few of my favorites are the “Keys to a Happy Marriage” and the Wish Tree wedding guestbook.  Leaving good thoughts, words of wisdom and well wishes displayed for everyone to see at the wedding reception is a beautiful way to remind everyone what both a wedding and the subsequent marriage are all about. {Plus, I’m in love with vintage skeleton keys so to see someone incorporate it into their wedding is so creative!! :) }

Traditional Wedding Guestbooks

You can’t go wrong with a traditional wedding guest book and we offers many of them both in store and online.  By having both a traditional option and one that is more personal and unique like the ones above is a way to make sure everyone is accounted for on your big day.  After all, your wedding day is about the love you share and who you share it with.

So which ones are your favorite? What are you doing for your wedding guestbook? Asking your guests to provide you with pieces of advice and stories is a wonderful way to add a personal touch to your wedding day and your guests will love that they were able to become a part of your day beyond just their presence.  Leave us some love in the comments with your creative guestbook ideas! A special thank you goes to all the vendors who provided the images for the real weddings!
