Vanity Fare Caterers Wedding TIp February 9, 2010

No rice throwing? No problem . . . there are plenty of things you can throw at the new Mr. and Mrs. In fact, the Swiss have a very sweet tradition of throwing candy at the newlyweds. Guests can gently lob wrapped treats at the couple (and the young guests can gather them up!). Bird seed is a great way to stick close to tradition but do something nice for the birds too. Speaking of birds, the release of doves is a very classic symbol of peace and love. Of course, if you would like to do something a little unique, you can toss a mixture of herbs at the bride and groom: rosemary symbolizes remembrance; mint signifies joy and lavender which is for love make a great mixture for a wedding. And, if you don’t feel like throwing anything, you can always just blow bubbles at the couple as they make their way out of the ceremony, or have guests make a path for the newlyweds with lit candles: both make for great pictures.
