Wedding Dance before or after dinner?

When to do the first dance?  Traditionally it is right after the meal just before opening the dance floor. Have you ever considered doing the first dance immediately following the head table introductions.  Everyone is standing and clapping for you anyways so you have their full attention.  I have seen this done many times with my weddings and it's beautiful.   All eyes are on you!

What are your thoughts?

I often also recommend to my clients to go right into the first dance after they make their grand entrance into the reception.  It can have much more of a wow-factor than just getting up after dinner.  Plus, it also opens the dance floor, so if the band is playing something dance-worthy (like a nice slow song) during dinner, people will enjoy themselves and feel comfortable getting up and dancing if the spirit moves them.
