Are you a snow bunny that can’t help but enjoy when the weather starts to turn? A winter wedding may seem like a big of a risk with the unpredictable weather, but there are also so many wonderful things that can come with the occasion to consider for the winter lovers among us. So unless you are from the south and can ensure year round warm weather, here are a few ways to make the most of your snowy white wedding!

So I’ve already mentioned the first pro of a winter wedding, and that is the chance of snow. This means plenty of snowy photos with magical lighting compliments of your photographer. Another pro of this is the cute props you can incorporate into your photos. My favorite is just a little mistletoe. A carriage is also a cute addition, and if the bride does not have far to travel could be a great means of transportation to the ceremony.

Another great winter addition to your wedding could be in your attire. It can be both fun and practical. I love wearing boots in the snow. I image my cherry red hunters popping against the white surroundings. This is also a way to tie in your wedding colors. Another idea is some white warm wool or knit mittens to watch your dress as you are out taking your photos. A shawl or wrap could also make a cute accessory. Or, show off your favorite winter coat! It will be practical and make for some unique photos.

It is cheaper to stick with flowers that are in season, and winter offers a ton of these! Roses are the most traditional of course, but with a little research there are many other options no matter what your colors are. In addition, there are different berries, succulents, and accent pieces that fit into the winter motif. Add a few pinecones, some ornaments if you are a Christmas lover, or some branches with crystal accents.

Involve your wedding party in the fun of the season with great wedding party gifts. Personalized thermos mugs will keep them and their coffee warm all day. Personalized scarves for the ladies are also a great option. Keep in mind your wedding quests too! Some great favors are homemade snow globes and personalized ornaments. Much like I suggested for the fall, wraps during the reception are another great option to carry over into winter.

Winter is a great time to get married especially if you get engaged in the winter or fall. This gives you approximately a year to plan all the details of your wedding. There are a few things to keep in mind. It gets darker earlier in the winter, and that means less time for photos in the daylight. Also, as great as snow can be it can put a stop to your day. Look into wedding insurance to make your day a little less worrisome.
