When is to early to begin looking for your gown?

It is hard not to get caught up in the excitement of planning your wedding. But keep in mind, especially if you have a lengthy engagement, not to rush into anything. Looking for your gown years ahead of time is a bit premature. A lot can happen in a few years; you may change sizes, you may move your wedding date, change the venue, and most importantly you may change what you like. A good time frame to begin looking is roughly one year out from your wedding date. A year will give you ample time to decide what style you like and which fits your body the best. It also allows you options for special orders and custom alterations such as adding straps or extra embellishments. This amount of time keeps you from getting stressed because you are running out of time to find “The” dress, and also leaves plenty of time to have alterations done. It takes roughly six to eight months for the dress to come in so keep that in mind as well. As long as you give yourself a realistic timeline you can avoid anxiety and find your perfect gown.
