Where is the best place to buy an engagement ring?

Anyone on the  lookout for a perfect engagement ring suddenly realizes that it is more complicated than they thought. Particularly if they want to buy a diamond engagement ring.

There is a lot of time you need to invest in the diamond 4Cs education. If you don't do that you will be an easy target for diamond vendors who know that they will be able to make a good deal off of you!

They might tell you that an IGI diamond certificate is just as good as a diamond certificate from GIA or AGS. Or they might tell you that the diamond cut is not that important. Or that a VS1 clarity grade will give you the biggest bang for your buck. Or that a G-colored diamond is perfect on a yellow gold ring setting. In reality you are overpaying on premium features where you would not see any diference if you went several grades down.

It is for this reason that you must get your education right on the diamond 4Cs: The diamond cut, the diamond color, the diamond clarity and the diamond carat weight.

Once you have done that you can start out looking out where to buy your engagement ring.

Buying locally gives you the advantage of actually seeing the diamond and engagement ring you are about to buy.

On the other hand buying online gives you a tremendous price advantage. It is clear that brick and mortar jewelry stores cannot offer that competitive prices when they have to pay for their fancy showrooms and stuff.

But there are good online diamond vendors out there and bad diamond vendors. The good ones enable you to view the diamonds from all sides in magnified high definition 360° videos. Furthermore, the good diamond vendors do not dropship their diamonds and thus they are able to provide Idealscope images for their diamonds.

It is important to view a diamond before buying because some clarity grades can be eye clean but need not necessarily be eye clean. If you are buying completely blind you might be in for a rough surprise!
