Reception under a Coconut booth

Yes. That is the way Jamaicans used to do it. The reception was held at the groom's house inside a booth built only for the occasion under the auspices of "wedden godfadda ', who ensures that all the wedding activities are running according to his plans. The booth is symbolic of a modern day gazebo and is made out of coconut branches that are decorated with flowers.

The reception follows a typical order, which includes toasting, cutting of the cake, consuming traditional foods and lots of dancing. Newlywed Jamaican couples sometimes continue with the tradition of freezing a piece of their cake until their first wedding anniversary!

Food Choices

If I am allowed to use only one word to tell you about Jamaican wedding food, it would be "Waga Waga or nuff". It's pretty simple to track a Jamaican wedding ceremony as the concoction of aromatic cuisine gently rides the environment and drifts over the city.

This is one way that uninvited guests are attracted to a wedding reception!
Well, you are going to learn about this delicious and cultural soup that is prepared in many Jamaican weddings. It is famous for its unique spicy tang and is made from goat's head and intestines.
You've probably heard about escovitch fish, have not you? Escovitch fish is among the oldest Jamaican dishes and it is sure to be around you on your wedding.
