I read this several times and it still makes no sense to me.

I thought engagement was what made posts show up to potential clients, not likes. And what it mean that likes "increase the company's bottom line"? 

I just don't understand how simply "collecting likes" would help a business make money.

@Jennifer, that's not true for everyone.  Some of us network with one another quite often as a result of this very Bridal Tweet group.  Sarah is right; liking a company's page from your personal Facebook page is the only way to increase that company's bottom line.  The number of likes a company has matters in terms of marketing to potential clients, which is the purpose of this group.

Frankly, I'm a little confused when people talk about "Likes not counting." Does it really matter how many likes you have?? I'm not sure why we're all here collecting likes from people we don't know who we'll never do business with or get a referral from. If I'm  missing something, please enlighten me, thanks! :)
