Hi Annie...
I'm a planner down here in Rancho Cucamonga, just over the Cajon Pass. I read your response to the last post, and I would love to work with you. I know you get some snow up there in the winter months, which would be my only concern (never driven in it at all), but I'm sure it could be worked out. Love to hear from you!!!!!!
I went into their stores and introduced myself and my business; told them what I do. We exchanged cards and every now and then I drop them an email and I receive emails from some of them too! With some of the local bakeries, I set up a tasting for an event that was upcoming. Just keep in contact with them Communication is key! You want to create a good relationship with them and they with you. Sample their products, see if they are a vendor that you want to have a relationship with, and if so keep in touch with them. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the advice! I would love to network with you also. We will have to keep in touch!
Congratulations on becoming a new planner ...
Approaching a vendor for networking in your area ... Springville, New York ...
Approach with ... Hi my name is ... ... ... of Creative Elegance Weddings ... What is your name? ... and ... What is it that you do? ... Now the vendor is engaged in a conversation with you about what she or he does ... When the vendor is finished with her or his rendition ... You may take this opportunity to share your business ... A short 45 second to 60 second "Elevator Speech" (Short / Precise / To The Point) ... Say ... I would really like to network with you ... May I have your business card please ... With your permission I'd like to email you all of my information / documentation ... It is at that point in your email you can share your pricing ... (finders fees ... gratuities ... If any) ... I would suggest that you reach outside of Springville, New York and Travel as a planner ... (Build a base of Contacts ... Venues ... Other Planners in other states ... etc) ... Network with them as well ... You just never know where your next gig may come from !!! ...The potentials are limitless ... Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think my Customized Cigar Roller Event business would land me a gig on board a Portal Glacier Touring Boat in Anchorage, Alaska !!! ... Bit it did ... (June of this year) ... Remain positive always ... It would be my pleasure to network with you too ... Distant geographical contacts are a plus ... Additionally ... I am a Board Member of The National Assocation of Wedding Professionals (NAWP) ... Miami/Dade-Broward Chapter South East Florida ... www.nawp.com ... Check out the NAWP website ... There is a chapter in Upstate New York ... Don't know the geography from where they are to you ... However ... Take a look-see ... The NAWP is a great group of professionals in the Wedding / Event Planning / Entertainment Industry ... There are other outstanding associations as well ... NACE ... ISES ... MPI ... I didn't mean to go on and on ... I just looked to make a few modest suggestions to you ... Hopefully you found my info helpful ... Wishing You and Yours ALL the BEST ... Enjoy ... "Keep It Fun" ...
Regards,
Frank Paul
