10 Things Beautiful Brides Don't Forget to Do

Every bride-to-be wants to look her best on her wedding day. Though you can always hire a pro makeup artist to make you look fabulous, there is something more to looking beautiful than skillful contouring and an elegant up-do.

Start Early
Begin taking care of your skin the day you start planning your wedding (or even earlier!). This skincare routine means you should make it a habit to taking off your makeup before going to bed EVERY night. Drink lots of water. Wear sunscreen. Exfoliate and moisturize.

Consider Facials
If professional facials are not part of your skincare routine yet, consider getting them monthly several months before your wedding if you can. Facials help stimulate circulation giving you that rosy, blushing look. And if you have blemish-prone skin, they can help unclog pores! Steer away from doing at-home, DIY facials that you have never tried before weeks before your wedding --you never know they might affect your skin, and if your skin gets damaged, it might not have enough time to heal before your big day.

Banish Blemish Fast
Sometimes, a pimple rears its ugly head despite all efforts to avoid it. When it does, zap it fast, but DON’T POP IT. Benzoyl peroxide is great for drying out zits, and so is tea tree oil. Personally, a dab of Retin-A does it for me.

Feed Your Skin
Another way to get that glow is to feed your skin through your stomach. Load up on fruits that are rich in water and Vitamin C for a clearer complexion. Plus it will work wonders on your figure too! If you are not much of a fruit eater (or a healthy eater for that matter), you can supplement your poor diet with vitamin pills. But we must tell you, nothing beats the real thing!

One bride also advised that you cut out salt from your diet to get rid of facial puffiness.

Don’t Forget Your Hands (and Feet!)
With all the focus on what your face will look like on your wedding day, it’s easy to forget to indulge your hands. Begin your hand prep at least a month before your big day. Hand creams should be your new best friend to keep your digits hydrated. Also, if you have nail issues (read: fungi), it’s best to start treatment early on.

Treat Your Crowning Glory
Drop that boxed dye! Please do not attempt any drastic changes on your hair weeks before the wedding. If you are intent on going from dark to light, light to dark, red or whatever, it’s best to see a professional colorist a month or more before the wedding. This way, any (God forbid) mistakes can be corrected, and you will have time to test your makeup look with your new hair color. Same goes for cuts.

Same as with your skin, moisturize your hair and take vitamins for it if needed.

And oh, the secret to a fabulous updo is dirty hair. Just make sure it doesn’t smell!

Say Ahhhh!
Don’t forget to schedule an appointment with your dentist for cleaning (and bleaching, if needed). Also, address serious dental issues early on. Trust us, you don’t want an extraction, a root canal, or any kind of excruciating pain days before your wedding.

Pro tip: Professional teeth whitening procedures are best done six months ahead of time so that your pearly whites will look natural on the day itself (and not too brilliant and fake in photos!).

Going Bare
Stick to hair removal that you are used to or if you want to try something new or more lasting, do it months ahead. This is to make sure that any adverse reactions can be avoided or treated before your big day.

Get Sun-Kissed
But don’t get baked! If you are planning to get bronzed for your wedding, opt for a spray tan, and have it done a few days before so there will be time for the color to tone down.
Makeup Rehearsal
Take your makeup look for a test drive. Schedule an appointment with your makeup artist for this. Wear your makeup for a day, get photographed in it, get a little sweaty in it. This way, you get a clearer picture of how your makeup will look like on the day itself. Do the same even if you are doing your own makeup.

And also, make sure that you have the same shade of lipstick and eyeshadow in your emergency kit so that your makeup won’t look different when you do touch ups later on in the night.
