Bar Mitzvahs, Sweet Sixteens and Quinceaneras

Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs, Sweet Sixteens, and Quinceaneras are all events celebrating children entering the next chapter of their lives. From this point forward, they are to be recognized as adults, and they are expected to conduct their daily lives as such along with all the responsibilities that come with getting older. Of course, what better way to celebrate any occasion that throwing a huge party amongst the company of family, friends, good food, and music? While there is usually the expectation of a cake at these sort of celebrations (along with an out-of-tune chorus or two of the "Happy Birthday" song) the past few years have seen the emergence of an additional dessert option: the candy station.

Often not only is there such a vast variety of candy to choose from at these candy stations, but the vessels holding these sweet morsels are often as interesting as the candies themselves. We here at Vanity Fare have seen flower vases, mason jars, and even fish bowls used to display the treats. And with the ability to mold itself into whatever form is desired, the candy station is a fun addition for all ages as it allows for older generations to try new types of candy while the younger generation can experience those candies cherished by their elders. It also sheds a light-heartedness and youthful reminiscence to these celebrations amongst their formality, maybe being a subtle reminder to us all that while growing old is mandatory, growing up is completely optional.
