Think about the final product, and not just a piece of plastic

I frequently get asked by potential wedding clients, “Do I get a cd/dvd of the images from the wedding?” The answer of course is yes. Unfortunately it saddens me to think that more often than not, once the final cd is delivered to the customer, that it will have a short-lived run to the Big Box store for a few prints for the family and that will be about it. The media will sit in the office desk or dresser drawer for the most part unused, or the pictures will be on the customer’s hard drive buried in a folder not being seen again. Have you ever seen that commercial where the mother is seated showing one of her friends her family photo album? She says, “ Oh here is little Johnny at baseball. Here is Johnny at school, etc” Then the camera pans around behind her so we can see what she is looking at. There are memory cards taped to the album pages (with captions)

People, when a marriage occurs, this is a lifelong commitment. Your wedding photos should garner the same respect. Children will be coming along (some sooner, some later). How will you be sharing your wedding memories with your children when they are old enough to understand? We all know that in today’s world, technology is constantly changing. People have several ways to view pictures. Ipod, Iphones, the Internet, email etc. But there is something to be said about the standard print, and more importantly the wedding album. You and your family may have spent thousands of dollars for all the trimmings that go along with the wedding; flowers, dress, venue, and such. Why would you basically want to shortchange your future children and grandchildren by not having a properly printed and recorded story of the big day, that can be handed down from generation to generation? No worries about how to view your pictures/images; you have a real album!

Now people will say, “Oh, I will make my own album since I have the cd of the pictures.” Yeah, sure you will. If you are like most of us, you have a busy schedule with work, new marriage, and possibly children. 2 out of 10 people will actually sit down at the computer (for hours) and try to make a montage/album of the wedding day and upload to one of the web publishing companies for print. If this is okay with you, then more power to you. But the majority of people will never get around to doing that. Building an album is time consuming and tedious. We professionals have the tools and skill sets to create marvelous printed materials that will please even the most scrutinizing client.

So do yourself a favor, for your future children, grandchildren’s sake. Get your wedding professionally printed in album form. How knows, the cd /usb format may become obsolete in a few years, and be replaced with wow knows what.
