Get a Carlee ... fast!

Can I tell you I am the luckiest Bride in the World!
(If my fiance reads this it is because I am marrying him and I love him dearly)

But aside from that, it is because I have a "Carlee" and if you are planning a wedding you should get yourself a "Carlee" too!

Carlee, is the function coordinator at our reception venue and she has been an absolute angel.

So what's makes a venue coordinator so great...

Quick Correspondence
If you're venue or planner is on the ball they will answer any email or phonecall within a maximum of 24 hours. Their response will always be polite and informative. In fact, they may give you answers to questions you haven't even asked which is even better to know that someone is also thinking for you.

Straight Shooter
They will tell you straight out what the cost is and alert you to any additional expenses. If you have any sense of vagueness , or fobbing off, when it comes to talking bucks, then you should start to worry about what hidden costs are involved in hiring the venue.

Gymnast
I don't expect cartwheels and splits, but they will be flexible. If it's not possible to meet your requests they will suggest alternatives, or offer suggestions as to how to work the venue to what you want. See Straight Shooter for how they will deal with any additional expenses involved with themeing and decoration.

Advisor
Your venue coordinator will have done a million weddings before and as such will be a valuable resource in providing advise on running times, set up and seating. Use them as a tool to make your wedding planning smoother.

Poker Face
How horrified do you think you would be if you mentioned you want a Karaoke Wedding and your venue coordinator turns around and says "Oh Gawd - why?". When we mentioned to our Carlee that we were planning a reception singalong she almost cheered, telling us how much fun they are, and how she herself was a closet Karaoker. Your coordinator should welcome your ideas, and respect your choices. They may be secretly thinking "I would never do that at my wedding" but its not their wedding, so they should NEVER let on.

The last year and a half of planning has been so easy and we owe a lot to Carlee.

If the contact at your reception venue is up to scratch - tell them to lift their game and get more like "Carlee" or go and find a "Carlee" of your own!
