What are the popular choices for color trends in 2010 for the life of your special events? "Fashion tends to dictate what colors will be hot," says Joyce Jones, regional general manager of BBJ Linen.

The Pantone Fashion Color Report for spring 2010 was put together based on top fashion designers New York Fashion Week collections. Bold and bright tones, including turquoise, vibrant, tropical blues, tomato puree classic red, and aurora, which is a slight greenish-yellow, seem to round out the list. Also coming into play are the yellows, purples, and grays for 2010. Earth tones and rich tones will also be popular.

If you are trying to avoid the classic look of black for your special event, chocolate and wine velour may be an option for giving your event some color flavor. Aaron Kaufman, president and CEO of 5th Element Events, says that pastel green paired with crisp white creates that fresh, clean feeling. He notes that the metallics, such as golds, silver, coppers, and bronzes, are sure to add a shimmer to your most special events. He says, "think Aretha Franklin outfits from the '80's." Anything with sequins and shimmer will be in for 2010. People are trying to focus on the "out of the recession" feel by going bold and bright.

Color combinations will be popular for 2010, with monochromatic tablescapes with tone on tone setting a very "with it" look and feel. In addition, bright on bright, animal patterns paired with bright hues, and neon colors will all reign supreme for 2010. Unusual color pairings will be popular this season, says Christine, Merser, vice president for marketing and communications, Classic Party Rentals.

However, the neutrals will never be out, as some folks still want the toned down look and feel such as cocoa, taupe, and Sahara velour. Rustic colors like beige, olive green, and sage will also remain popular in 2010. New colors, textures, and trendy ways to create color trends will add panache to all the special events of your life.
