When you attend a networking meeting or event are you prepared??? This is the advice I share with my students regarding networking. 1. First impressions are everything be well groomed and dress professionally. 2. As children we are taught don't talk to strangers well in business you have too..Don't be afraid to approach someone and intorduce yourself and your business 3. Be prepared: Practice your intorduction and what your business is about (30 second sound byte)because if your guessing or stumbling over what you are saying then the person you are speaking to is guessing and trying to figure it and you out this is your first commercial. Have PLENTY of business cards, brochures something you can give the people you are meeting so they can began to recognize your brand. 4. I know there is alot of good food at these meetings but before you grab a seat make you way around the room first and meet someone new. 5. Be approachable and smile. 6.Set a goal how many connections you want to make at the meeting and surpass it hand out more than one business card to the people you meet and request more than one from them if they question just explain one for you to keep and the others for you to hand out to your clients. 7. Show interest in what the other person is saying 8. Send a follow-up email 9. Thank them for their time. 10. Prepare for your next networking event. Happy Networking!!
