Help! I'm torn. I'm creating a brochure for my business and I wonder if it's better to list my service fee's in the brochure and on my website or leave it for consultation. What does everyone think?

I post prices on my website, because that is often where my clients find me.  Beside giving a ballpark figure, I have an online pricing calculator, and if the bride is interested enough, she can click on the calculator for detailed prices or give me a call for further information.  The calculator also lists my services, so it is convenient for the bride to see what I offer all in one place.  I provide computer calligraphy addressing services and charge by the piece, so often clients want to comparison shop.  They also see that I have added services that other companies might not offer.

In my humble opinion,  personally like to know someone's fees if I am visiting their site. It also helps to have this information for anyone who may have a budget guideline. Although I agree that there will always be another competitor who may offer a lesser price, I believe if you offer a great product and service, you will still receive business. We post all of our prices so our clients do not have any surprises.

I don't think you should post your pricing, as your competitors will also know about it, and they may lower their prices to cut your trade, and somehow I don't think we should advertise with price tags. Well this is my opinion, you can see other people's comments too and then decide. Cheers

Hi there,

I am just another Photographer around the world.

In general, competitors know pricing of other vendors, even if are not posting on your site! ;)

Just try to think to your competitors from your area!!

I am Wedding Photojournalist and I set a special page for Bride and Groom just to know the level of discussion.

I know the price of different photo-sessions, of complete service for wedding day offered by photographers from around me.

One of them are post price, some of them are not post price... what a pity...

Every new couple have a budget for different services for their wedding (!), and if every wedding vendor keep 'secret' their price, they can create a big issues for this new couple!

It is fair to set even a start price.

But this is not the most important aspect, because every new bride and groom try to keep the most touching memories for themselves!

It is a Internet Era! Wake Up!

There are a lot of Wedding Faire around us, and people will know in a second with are talking with!

Google is a Master of wedding.

Facebook it is a help for everyone, but tell almost everything about you! ;)

In another words, just think that every important wedding photographers association (like WPJA or ISPWP) are showing thousand of wedding photojournalist with their starting price!!

Hi Deanna,

I am Photographer and I will speak for myself.

I set up a special page for Bride and Groom just to know the the start price for usual photo sessions.

Just think that every new couple have a budget for wedding vendors, and if every one of them keep 'secret' their price, it can create a big issues for this new couple!

It is fair to set up even a start price.

This is not the most important aspect: every new bride and groom is trying to keep the most touching memories for themselves!  They will be careful looking around!

I do list, especially because my pricing on products and services are very competitive.

We have tried both ways.   As a planner, we've found it is better for us not to have our rates on our site as it gives us the opportunity to talk to the client, determine what service(s) may best fit their needs and budget.    We continually update our packages to meet the ever changing needs of our couples so we can make changes at anytime, honoring whatever is listed in the client's contract.

Better to list your services in your brochure, and talking about pricing during the consultation. It is more important for couples to learn the value of your services. Unless you know the specifics of your couple's needs, how can you give them a quote?

I know that it is ideal to meet people and to learn bride and groom about the value of your services, but Do not forget that many couples are from abroad!

Other ways, all important wedding photojournalist association are listed the start price for every member!!

If you put your price people asked directly if you are available

If you do not put your price they ask how much

Yep, you are perfectly right.

That's the reason to put the prices on your site.

I always want to know the "Range" so I know what I'm about to spend.  Don't most think that way?
