Themed weddings are not only fun to plan, but they are also the perfect chance to celebrate your special day living out your fantasy. If you have dreams of getting married beneath the Eiffel tower, but it is simply not in the budget, consider a Parisian wedding theme. It will be fun and easy to turn your wedding and the venue into Paris with only a few simple tips. There are several ways to have a Parisian style wedding such as a modern French bride or perhaps a little bit of Marie Antoinette. Either will be a stunning backdrop for your perfect day.
Planning the Details
Make a detailed plan of everything you associate with Paris, such as the Eiffel tower, croissants, French pastries, baguettes, wine, cheese and delicate and lacy garments. For ideas search the internet for pictures of French museums, city streets and works of art. This will give you a general idea of colors to use and decorations to incorporate into the Paris theme.
The invitations will be the first clue for your guests of what they can expect your wedding day to be like. Choose a paper that is cream colored and a formal font in a mocha color, or you could have a latte colored background with a cream or pale pink font. Include a fleur de lis design or have a pattern of toile or damask.
The bridal gown could be of either a sleek and modern design or a classic lace gown with several layers. The bridesmaids’ dresses would be lovely at calf length and either sleek and modern, or with touches of lace. The groom and groomsmen should also dress the part with a classic tuxedo.
A Parisian inspired wedding has to have a romantic venue. There are several options, such as a local art museum. An outdoor wedding in a garden or a park with a wide variety of colorful flowers would work also perfectly. If you live in an area with a vineyard, this would be the ideal location to have the ceremony, and many wineries will offer the option of having the ceremony outdoors in the vineyard or indoors where the décor is typically perfect for a Paris inspired wedding.
Decorations and Favors
Since Paris is known as the city of lights, you will have to include quite a few of them. Miniature lights work perfectly for providing the effect when they are placed throughout the venue. If possible, have an ice sculpture of the Eiffel tower and request it to be lighted. Feathers also add to the Parisian theme and they can be incorporated in several different ways, such as in the centerpieces. For an added touch when marking the tables, instead of using numbers mark them with the names of various cheeses, wines or different cities in France. Then insert those names on damask design cards in place card holders or write the names on little chalk boards.
There are hundreds of options for favors with a Parisian wedding theme such as key rings with a miniature Eiffel tower, post cards with the couple’s picture and wedding date, small silver picture frames, or damask favor boxes filled with miniature petit fours.
There are so many different directions you can take with any French theme, so make it Paris in your own way, based on all the things you love about the city. Even if you have never been there, you can have a Parisian theme to create the look and feel. Then give a few strong hints about a good location for the honeymoon!
