I took some time off yesterday and took my parents out to lunch in Clear Lake. It was a belated Father's Day present since we were up to our necks in weddings during the month of June and I missed his day. I had promised them lunch, so I just shut off the cell phones and closed the computer for a day of antiquing, store browsing, cookie munching and seeing the beautiful waters of Clear Lake.
This is also the town where the legendary…

You only need to glance at a wedding forum to hear horror stories about marriage celebrants.
"He turned up 50 mins late..." and "She forgot our names half way through the ceremony" or even just a simple "They didn't do what we asked…

I have been reading on several websites that some of the Wire Services are selling Wedding Flowers Packages and claim that they are better and cheaper because they come directly from the fields in South America and are made up in South America by specially trained Ladies who are being paid good enough money to make them the big earner in their household, they only work 46.5 hrs per week, have health insurance and daycare available while they work. Then I looked at the package prices, honestly,…

You’ve sent out your invitations and the responses are starting to roll in. Each day a new batch of responses arrives in the mail. How exciting … until the mystery card arrives!

Number of guests: 2
Oh, no. Someone forgot to write in their name. Who are these two people attending your wedding? The last thing you want to add to your “to do” list is to start calling your guests.
This situation could have been easily avoided by numbering the…

Cocktail hour is the most anticipated culinary component of the wedding. From the sushi bar to the meat carving station, your guests will be canvassing the room in search of those infamous baby lamb chops. For most guests, cocktail hour is the only time in the evening where the focus is on the food. By the time the party gets started everyone is happily distracted by the band, the toasts and inevitably the alcohol. Usually, the sit down meal is forgettable and what leaves a lasting impression…

Tweed River Video
I recently read an article that suggested money conscious brides are skipping the video at their weddings. I was shocked. In today's media-savvy world, a good quality video of your wedding is more important than ever. Here are just a few of the reasons:
Life Moves, Photos Don't
Photos are a wonderful way to capture moments in time. Video captures time itself. At a wedding I…

The gym is a place where many people come together for a common purpose: to get or stay in shape. Although we are all there trying to do the same thing, unfortunately not everyone practices proper gym etiquette. With so many people in one area trying to work, it is vitally important to understand basic rules in order to ensure the comfort and safety of all involved. Most of this is common sense, but here are but a few basic guidelines to make sure everyone’s gym experience is a safe and…

"Of the many things to consider when planning your "I Do's", where does ambiance sit on your priority checklist? Flowers and fabric add to the mood, but lighting is key to achieving that romantic feeling and look. Keep in mind that less is usually more, as candles give off more light and heat than you may think. If your venue bans the use of open-flame, then we have other great candlelight imitation options. You can achieve all the allure and glamor needed for your special day with just a…

In what has to be one of the coolest "quirks" to a wedding reception Wedbykez has found the latest craze in the US. Photo booths!
Not to replace your wedding photographer (who's job it is to make you look amazing) the photo booth is set up in the corner of your dance floor and guests are invited to jump in and take as many happy snaps as the can.
Rather than have disposable cameras on the table you get a fun, talked about reception that people will remember…

I found this season the greatest accessories and treasures in the antique stores. My most favorite place to find hidden treasures. I found great ideas for old school and new school looks that no one else would have. Ladies head out to your local antique, vintage store and find yourself brooches, pins, old clips earrings and shoe clips. You can find so many fun, soft old looks to a more retro look. You name it you can wear it, just have to have…
