Behind the Scenes of your Special Day

The sun is just beginning to rise and already the lights, chandeliers, statues, ground lighting, air-conditioning, ovens, lamps, coffee pots and an unlimited number of other salutes to technology are being started, ignited and turned on for your convenience, though your arrival is a mere 8 hours away. When you walk through that door, all will be pristine, immaculate, grandiose in nature yet softened by understated elegance. You will smile with anticipation of the events that will unfold before… Continue

LOUIE Awards, here we come!

Did you know that Americans exchange 7 billion greeting cards a year??? Seriously. 7 billion. That's almost beyond comprehension.

This is why the Greeting Card Association exists. A group that keeps the stationery industry life blood flowing. Every year at the National Stationery Show in New York City they host the LOUIE Awards... which is basically the Oscars for us in the card and invitation biz (named after Louie Prang, who of course invented the Christmas card, what else?). There… Continue

New York New York

One great way to spend some time in New York city is with an old Super8 camera in your hand at a beautiful wedding. Most often Well Spun Weddings covers does a wedding video with standard definition video or high definition video. And then edit it to look like a vintage 8mm film. But it is a treat when I get to work with the real thing!

This film really came to life with our client's choice in music. I have heard the old Beatles version of this song, but it wasn't until they passed… Continue

A Romance of Southern Grandeur!

When you think of Southern Plantations of the old south and the Civil War your minds eye immediately takes you to "Tara" and the most famous of all Plantation movie scenes in the history of Hollywood. Rhett Butler, Scarlett O'Hara, fog, dramatic music, elaborate wardrobes and an era of true romance that has captured the hearts of generations of lovers. I can't think of a more fitting venue in which to celebrate love than one that has as rich a history of creating romance as Heaven on… Continue

KNOW WHAT YOU WANT

As a Bride to be I am asking all brides to have a definite idea of what you want and what you dont want. It is very hard as a planner to read your thoughts and see the visions dancing around in your head. It drives me nuts when a bride cannot articulate, draw, sketch, provide a photo or anything of what her dream wedding looks like, but considers me unprofessional if i can't decipher and manifest the dream!!! Be reasonable with your vendors, give them some help when you come to them with ideas… Continue

Film

Today I busted out my Hasselblad 503 and shot some images of my son and our garden. Once I get them processed I will post. I'm so excited!! It feels so vintage and real in my hands. I can't believe I began my photography journey with film and now all I can do is relate to it as if it's an antiquated medium.

Look Beautiful on Your Day

Look Natural: Simply grasp flowers and hold them no higher that you naval. This tip will help you to avoid the biggest wedding offender. The stiffly held bouquet.

Do Not Over Accessorize: Always remember your gown, veil, and bouquet count as accessories. Keep it simple, work your look around one memorable piece.

Work with the Shape of Your Face: Remember with the hair style and veil that width add width and that length adds length. If you have a narrow face add width with your hair or… Continue
