Gosh my brides are smart!

At a wedding rehearsal recently I was lucky enough to get a sneak peak of the reception room and, apart from being gorgeously decorated, I saw a very smart idea. The table for the little ones was placed right at the front and each setting had a pencil case with the child's name filled with coloured pencils and a colouring in book (age and sex… Continue

Real Wedding: Stefanie and Russell

Beautiful. Intimate. Elegant. And replete with southern charm. I’m not sure there are four better descriptors for Stefanie and Russell’s South Carolina wedding. From the magical stick sculpture to the choir, custom-made linens and handwritten signage, the details are lovely and impeccable. With only their closest family and friends, Stefanie and Russell turned their big day into an intimate weekend event that began with an oyster shucking rehearsal dinner and ended with a boat ride on a…

Why you should have a wedding coordinator

Oh the benefits of having a Coordinator or at least a Day of Coordinator are endless.,  However, I will touch on the top 5.

1) They will follow up with all of your vendors a few weeks before the wedding.  You won’t have to.  When it is only a few weeks before your wedding, the stress builds and you have so many little things to do (trust me I know).  This is one thing you won’t have to do.  Your Coordinator or Day of Coordinator (or DOC) will let every vendor know their arrival time,…

Disspelling Make-up Myths

For today’s wedding advice I wanted to go over some of the make-up myths that go around regarding make-up for your wedding day.  There are a lot, such as the need to make your skin darker so you won’t appear flushed out in photos.  I can guarantee you that in the photos I take on your wedding day, you are not going to look flushed out, actually its the opposite.  If you put on make-up 3 shades darker than you normally do, then your face is going to look 3 shades darker and honestly quite…

Trendy Tuesday: Perfect Fit Bridesmaid Dresses

It is very rare that a bride will choose bridesmaids that are all the same size, like the same styles, and can look great in anything! It’s just not possible. While the wedding dress is always going to be the main focus point on your wedding day, every bride should take into consideration what her bridesmaids will be wearing. After all, you are asking them to purchase this gown with their own hard earned money. Why not make sure that the dress not only looks fabulous on them, but that it is…

Have fun with color

Adding a bit of color to your wedding day look is not only fun and different it also adds that touch of wow that makes you stand out. Any bride can put on an ivory or white gown and look beautiful but be a little daring and add some color. A popular idea is to have a matching sash for the ceremony and a color for the reception. You can also incorporate colored beading, lace or even feathers into the embroidery of the gown. And of course don’t forget the shoes! Have fun with it! Choose a bold…

Wedding Song Writer's Weight Journey

I weighed myself on Friday and I was down to 126 lbs.  The problem is I can lose about 4 lbs during the week but then I gain the same 4 lbs back on the weekend.  I talked with my neice and she does the same every week.  I was so careful this weekend with drinks and food so we'll see on Friday how I did, it's a constant battle every week.  With so many graduations, cookouts, wedding showers and weddings it's so hard to eat right.  Our gatherings are surrounded by food and booze.  LOL  Then…
