the other night a bride and groom explained that they were looking for just the right song for a teenaged family member to sing during their ceremony. a challenge? i think so! my husband and i spent about four hours on youtube and itunes trying to find interesting and original songs that would work for them. i realized that they would also be great first dance songs. here they are (and a few others). let me know what you think!

When you hire a wedding DJ, you not only expect them to throw a great party for your wedding reception but they should also set a great tone for the evening from the minute they start playing. Music can really set a person's mood and at a wedding, of course you want all of your guests to have a perky, ready to party attitude.
This is important to keep in mind when meeting with your wedding DJ to discuss not only the details for the dancing portion of the evening, but also for the…

Got your attention? Good. If you are planning a wedding or have a friend/family member that is, please read this and share it as we are hoping to help you NOT have a lousy wedding.
As wedding DJ's we know how to pack a dance floor. That is why you hire us if you want a great wedding. However, we can not do our job properly if we are limited to what we can play for music. Think about what you want for your wedding? Do you want a great party where your guests are having an amazing…

Eric recently came across an article on Mobile Beat Magazine that he shared with me and it brought up some really interesting points regarding the factors that go into filling the dance floor at a wedding reception.
When a dance floor is not packed at a wedding, most people blame it on the DJ. Even us wedding DJ's feel that we might be doing something wrong if the dance floor is not full from start to finish. However,…

One of the fabulous things about wedding reception music is that you get to listen and dance to songs from many decades. Weddings give you the opportunity to hear songs that you maybe haven't heard in a while, plus breaking up the genres of music during the evening allows your wedding DJ to capture the musical interests of all your guests.
To add to the fun at a reception, the wedding DJ's at Avid Entertainment love to play a 90's…

As wedding DJ's, we often sit down with brides and grooms who come to their pre-wedding meeting with pages of songs they would like played during their reception. Some of the songs may have special meaning to them, while others are songs they just love and would like to hear on their wedding day.
It's great when couples share what songs they like and don't like…

To tip or not to tip? That is the question on the minds of many brides and grooms on their wedding day. Although it is not expected by vendors, it is certainly appreciated.
So, then who do you tip and how much? In my option, I think that the vendors and/or staff who are deserving of an extra little something, are those who go above and beyond or who do an excellent job in making sure that your special…

Hi guys - just looking out into the snow has reminded me of a wedding we played for last winter!! We go caught in a blizzard on the M40 on the way to Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. A lorry had jack - knifed in front of us and the traffic came to a standstill!! We arrived at Blenheim 5 hours after the original time for the wedding! The guests had all been kept occupied with a tipple or two and were very merry by the time we arrived!! We set up in record time in the ceremony room and waited…

Our new venture, the string duo, is being booked up for 2012. The duo comprises violin and cello and can be a perfect addition to an intimate wedding ceremony. As there are only 2 players less space is required. The repertoire for this group consists of all the usual traditional wedding ceremony music. However, we are constantly developing and expanding our music so this will increase as time goes on. We are hoping to be able to offer the duo for ceremony and drinks reception in the near…

Your “Do Not Play List” – every couple has one, some are short, but others can be pages long.
The wedding music should certainly be tailored to your musical tastes and both represent who you are as a couple and remind you of points in your relationship or times growing up.
At Avid Entertainment, we encourage couples to provide us with input regarding the wedding music and…

Had an unforgettable night Saturday (Sept. 17, 2011) DJ-ing for Reginald (Reggie) and Crystal at a banquet hall called the Fiesta Palace in Merrillville, Indiana. It was great being back in Merrillville again - I had performed for a Valentine's Day Steppers set and after party for The Stylistics, Chi-Lites and Dramatics concert last year at the Star Plaza Hotel's Celebrity Ballroom.
The Fiesta Palace is also a great facility - very spacious with a huge dance floor…

The royal wedding is drawing near and there will be much to see and "awww" about, but there will also be as much to take in when it comes to the music that will be included in the royal wedding. The setting of the wedding at Westminster Abbey means that the couple will have access to the famous choir of the Westminster…
