Took fliers to area businesses today!

I spent part of the day taking the fliers for the Wedding Open House to area businesses in Sheboygan Falls, Kohler, Plymouth and Manitowoc. Everywhere I went, everyone was so friendly and nice about putting the flyer in their business!

Tonight I have been working on my fee schedule to include with the letters to the brides on the Bridal Faire list that I received yesterday. It's the first time I have actually spent time actually figuring out what to charge for every little thing.… Continue

Planning a wedding gives you a whole new respect for event managers and wedding planners (like Natasha from yourspecialday.com.au) but you also learn the true meaning of "hidden costs"

My husband and I are incredibly proud of the budget we sent (and stuck to) for our wedding but I’m not… Continue

Budget Friendly Centerpiece for Winter

Thanks for your patience while I was recovering from an unexpected c-section. I had a baby boy on November 22, 2009: Niall Patrick McCullough. He was 7 pounds, 3 ounces and 21 inches long. After a very long, grueling 6 weeks of recovery, I was finally able to start getting back to my normal life. It has now been 9 weeks and everything is going great. Niall is finally down to 1 feeding in the middle of the night, so I'm feeling a little more rested. I'll be trying to post something once per… Continue

Out of town Wedding Party Member

Wedding party – a necessary and fantastic part of any wedding. The attendenants are usually long time friends who consider their participation to be an honor. But in our ever increasingly mobile society many brides and grooms are finding themselves with at least one attendant who lives out of town.

There is nothing wrong with an out of town attendenant just be sure that you are clear on a few things. Be sure that this person is going to have the money to get to the event as… Continue

Brides Cutting Costs Not Style

The results of the fourth annual “What’s on Brides’ Minds” survey by David’s Bridal are in and show that because of the current economy, 68% of brides surveyed are planning to spend less on their wedding. However, just because brides are cutting costs doesn’t mean they are sacrificing style.

The survey shows that couples are prioritizing their spending in order to keep within their budgets. Respondents had different ways of saving money on the big day but of the 68% of brides who… Continue

SELECTING BRIDAL JEWELRY

I recently participated in an event focused on brides & special occasions, where, to my delight, I found many brides, who were intentionally looking for something memorable they could keep after the wedding day. Not that their husband-to-be, their ring, their photos/videos weren't enough... just that... their search was for… Continue

One month in and what a year!

Wow, what a year 2010 has been! Within the first few second of the year, I became engaged! As the clock struck Midnight to bring us in to the New Year, Deg was on his knee, asking me to soon be his wife. He posted on facebook "Asked Mel Diesel to marry me, she said yes of course. We're dancing the night away.I never new the meaning of that until now".

We danced to our wedding song ("Only You can Love Me This Way" Keith Urban) over and over again, then some of our other memorable moment… Continue
